Nearly 300,000 tickets have been sold to this summer’s Pan Am Games in and around Toronto.
That’s nearly one-third of the total tickets expected to be sold to the largest multi-sport Games ever held in Canada. More than 6,000 athletes from 41 countries in the Americas and Caribbean will compete at the Games from July 10-26.

Those ticket sales are without knowing, for the most part, which athletes will be here and when Canadian teams will play. That means they have sold to fans who just want to see high quality sport and spectacle, officials say.

Tickets to the largest event - the Cirque du Soleil’s opening ceremonies held at the Rogers Centre - and one of the smallest venues - canoe/kayak slalom in Minden - are already gone. As are seats to track cycling and men’s soccer and the basketball gold medal games. (Once seating is finalized, however, some additional tickets may become available).

To reach the next group of spectators, the ones who want to be assured of seeing a Canadian team play, officials are starting to release detailed tournament schedules. Basketball and field hockey are out now as are details of when Canada plays in soccer. Canada’s men and women will play in every session of the rugby tournament.

Seats to some gold medal events top $100 but 75 per cent of tickets are $45 or less.

Fans have until March 9 to buy tickets before Pan Am Games tickets sales are suspended until mid-April to finalize specific seating and focus on selling tickets to the Para Pan Am Games, which run Aug 7-15.

Tickets can be purchased online at TORONTO2015.org/tickets or at 1-855-726-2015 and internationally at 1-949-333-4824.
