The Ontario Environment Ministry invites you to join a discussion on climate change.

Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., a town hall discussion will be hosted by the ministry at the Aurora Cultural Centre, 22 Church St.

Around the world, individuals and governments are coming to terms with solutions to adapt to a changing climate while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Ontario has published a climate change discussion paper, which sets a clear vision and long and short-term goals for fighting climate change. The hope is that the province’s paper will establish Ontario as a leader in climate change mitigation and science, redesign and build strong carbon neutral economy, communities, infrastructure and energy, protect the environment and leave a healthy world behind for future generations.

Immediate steps include taking action in key sectors, supporting science, research and technology, promote climate resilience and risk management and putting a price on carbon.

The ministry wants to know what you think about the best path forward for your community. Feedback is being collected and considered for inclusion as a full strategy is developed.

The discussion paper is available at Ontario.ca/environment-and-energy/climate-change-consultation

If you can’t make the meeting in person but wish to comment, there is an online comment opportunity on the website as well.
