Taffy on snow makes a return to the Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival at Stouffville’s Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area beginning Saturday.

“It’s delicious, ooey-gooey,” said Andrew Morin, operations supervisor for Bruce’s Mill of the taffy on snow.

The annual celebration of Canada’s iconic pancake topper and all-around sweet treat runs until April 6.

Sugarbush festivities are also being held at Woodbridge’s Kortright Centre for Conservation.

Bruce’s Mill is a demonstration site, therefore, the prolonged frigid temperatures won’t have an effect on the opening day’s activities, according to Morin.

Those activities include syrup making, horse-drawn wagon rides, an interpretive trail walk, pony rides and of course the serving of freshly-made pancakes and back bacon with maple syrup.

Bruce’s Mills’ retail area has been revamped to include more maple-based items, such as fudge, butter and popcorn.

Bruce’s Mill is at 3291 Stouffville Rd, between Kennedy Road and Warden Avenue.

The Kortright Centre is located at 9550 Pine Valley Dr., south of Major Mackenzie Drive.

Gates open at 9:30 a.m. with demonstrations starting at 10 a.m.

Bruce’s Mill is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except for March break and Easter Monday.

Admission is $8.95 for adults and $5.75 for seniors and children aged five to 14. Some activities have an additional charge.
