Art gallery, dance company up for $100,000 at council

Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville council may provide almost $100,000 in cash and in-kind services to the Latcham Gallery and Motus O dance company this year.

Both entities have memorandums of understanding up for renewal. They are expected to be dealt with during Tuesday afternoon’s council meeting. It begins at 3 p.m.

The proposed agreement between the municipality and Latcham Gallery, valued at $78,458, includes a $55,141 annual operating grant; $5,250 towards the implementation of a public arts program and a maximum contribution of $5,000 towards its annual fundraising program, according to the staff report.

In-kind contributions include facility occupancy costs ($6,800), marketing services ($4,272) and promotional services ($1,995), according to the staff report.

The $17,100 Motus O draft memorandum of understanding includes $10,000 for march break and summer camp programs, as well as a seasonal event.

Another $5,000 would go towards annual operating costs and there would be $2,100 of in-kind money for rehearsal space.

The council chambers are located at 111 Sandiford Dr.
