Hwy. 427 extension: three teams shortlisted

Three teams have been shortlisted to submit proposals for the long-awaited and anticipated Hwy. 427 expansion project.
Hwy. 427 expansion includes an extension from Hwy. 7 to Major Mackenzie Drive as well as four-kilometre road-widening south of Albion Road to Hwy. 7 to expand it to eight lanes.The extension will be six lanes between Hwy. 7 and Rutherford Road, narrowing to four lanes between Rutherford and Major Mackenzie Drive.
It will include interchanges at Langstaff Road, Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive.
Construction on the project is expected to begin at the earliest by fall 2016.
At this point, Infrastructure Ontario has chosen three teams to submit a final proposal to design, build, finance and maintain the project. The short-list of three was whittled down from an opening list of six bidders for the project.

A request for proposals from the three qualified consortiums will be issued early in 2016.
