There was a big celebration at Vaughan City Hall for the Moon Festival on September 26th. Families from across the city were welcome to come down to Vaughan City Hall to enjoy the festivities, watch live performances and learn more about this cultural celebration. The activities included Moon Festival Art Contest Award Presentation, Kids and Lanterns, Moon Festival Legends, Art of Chinese Drinking, "Getting to know you" Game, Singing Performances, Chinese Dances, Chinese Opera Singing, Chinese Music Instruments, Chinese Calligraphy, Cultural Festive Dance, Riddles & Games and Lucky Draw. In various parts of Asia, the full moon represents the gatherings of friends and family. The Moon Festival, in turn, is a time for family reunions. On this evening, many families gathered at scenic spots or parks for moon appreciation parties, and eating moon cakes. There was festive food for all to try out including moon cake, traditional Chinese tea and festive fruits are provided by our sponsors and share with the community. Traditional dances and performances left the crowd in awe, with a special performance by a children's musical choir. There was an official greeting by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua & Council, who joined in on the fun, and thanked everyone for coming. This year's Moon Festival Celebration was a great success!
