The Region of York is looking for your input on the future of transportation.

With the region slated to grow to 1.7 million people by 2041, review and updating of the region’s Transportation Master Plan is needed.

Recommendations from residents and businesses are needed to address transportation requirements and opportunities. The plan establishes the vision for services, system performance, forecasts future travel demand, and defines projects and strategies to help road, transit and active transportation needs.

Open houses are being held in many communities across York Region.

The Richmond Hill open house will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Region of York’s South Services Centre, 50 High Tech Rd., at Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.

The first hour will feature a self-guided review of materials, and staff will be available to answer questions. From 7 to 7:30 p.m., the plans will be updated through presentations. The remaining time will allow for break-out discussions with staff.

Study findings, staff analysis, and community input have already been used to draft suggestions which are being presented at this final round of open houses.

A Markham open house at Angus Glen Community Centre is set for Dec. 3, with another at the Vellore Town Hall in Vaughan Dec. 8.
