It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Frost is on the ground, the mercury is dipping below zero and Christmas lights are going up. That must mean it’s time for 2016 budget deliberations.

East Gwillimbury kicks off its discussion of next year’s budget with two deliberation sessions this week, Nov. 10 and Nov. 13, starting at 9 a.m. both days.

You are welcome to join the meeting and learn how your tax dollars will be spent by the town.  The preliminary budget is posted on the town’s website.

The town hopes it can pass the proposed budget Dec. 15.

If any additional dates are required for deliberation it will notify the public through its website.

The initial property tax hike proposed by staff was 3.95 per cent, which was the tax increase in 2015.
