The riding of Thornhill now has its first Seniors Party of Canada candidate.

Margy Fairbairn is listed as the party’s candidate on the Elections Canada website.

Fairbairn has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist in the Thornhill, Vaughan area for more than 25 years.

The party‘s mandate is to: Create a better voice for seniors in government, promote greater participation by Canadian seniors in their government and promote government decisions that are in the best interest of senior voters.

“With your vote, I will represent Canadian seniors ... and ensure that the ideas and principals behind the National Seniors Strategy are fulfilled. Remember, you don’t have to be a senior to vote for the SPC,” she says in her literature.

The party promises to fight for a society that promotes continuous quality of life through all phases.

“I value and respect the contributions seniors have made and are making in our society,” Fairbairn said.

She and husband Jim have raised four children in Thornhill, with the youngest just off to university this fall.

For the past four years, her 93-year old mom has lived with the family.

“I believe the health of our nation’s economy is intricately linked to the health of the individuals within it.”
