Toronto police have launched a new rush-hour enforcement push that will see officers cracking down on parking and traffic offences in the downtown core.

Beginning Monday, police will run a heightened campaign during the morning, midday and afternoon rush hours.

The goal, police say, is to tackle gridlock by ticketing and towing vehicles that obstruct traffic routes during rush hour.

Since January, when police allocated additional downtown traffic congestions, there have been 61,380 tickets and 12,354 vehicles towed on rush-hour routes.
