An unusual concert at Thornhill’s Heintzman House will blend beautiful music with a passion for creating awareness of mental illness.
On Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m., the heritage house will be the venue for a vision-sharing concert that will include performances.
Listen to Paul Cappuccio, director of patient care services at Markham-Stouffville Hospital. Be inspired by Julie Everson’s spoken word poetry and Lauren Margison’s songs. Escape the November blahs by listening to Roger Gibbs and members of Shak Shak play Calypso music, while you socialize and eat appetizers.
You can find out more about High Notes Avante’s vision and chat one-on-one with the board members as well as past and current supporters and artists and browse the silent auction items.
“One in five Canadians will experience mental health challenges in their lifetime and although almost everyone has someone in their life who has been touched by it, one in five does not speak about it,” said Ingrid Taheri, the artistic and executive director of High Notes Avante Productions.
“We strive to empower those who are suffering by providing positive role models and sharing their success stories. Removing stigma will go a long way in getting more people to seek out support.”
