A single share of Hydro One will cost about the same as a 12-pack of beer.

The Ontario government, which is privatizing the hydro utility and expanding sales of six-packs of beer into supermarkets, announced the offering price of Hydro One shares will be between $19 and $21.

That’s according to the amended prospectus Hydro One filed Friday with the Ontario Securities Commission and other Canadian regulator.

Premier Kathleen Wynne is selling up to 60 per cent of the utility, starting with a tranche of 15 per cent in early November, but the Ontario government will retain control and remain the largest single shareholder.

Wynne hopes to raise $9 billion, $4 billion to help bankroll transit infrastructure and the remaining $5 billion to pay down the company’s debt.
