Vigil to be held for family devastated by deadly Vaughan crash

A candlelight vigil will be held Thursday for the GTA family devastated by an alleged drunk driving crash that claimed the lives of three children and their grandfather.

Nine-year-old Daniel Neville-Lake, his five-year-old brother Harrison, their two-year-old sister Milly and their 65-year-old grandfather died in the crash in Vaughan on Sunday afternoon.

Marco Muzzo, of King Township, Ont., faces a dozen impaired-driving offences and six charges related to the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in connection with the incident.

He is set to appear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.

Thursday’s candlelight vigil for the Neville-Lake family is set to take place at the St. Padre Pio church in Vaughan.

Thousands of people have also donated to an online fundraiser in the names of the four victims. As of Thursday morning, more than $215,000 was raised in the GoFundMe campaign.

In a statement released this week, Muzzo’s mother has said her family is “greatly saddened” by the tragedy and send their deepest sympathy and condolences to those affected.

The Muzzo family owns the drywall company Marel Contractors and is worth nearly $1.8 billion, according to Canadian Business magazine.
