VINTAGE VAUGHAN: Wallace Brothers' General Store (the Dominion Exchange)

Yorkregion.com
Sept. 30, 2015

This photo is of the Wallace Brothers’ General Store (also called the Dominion Exchange).
Built in 1867 it still stands today at 167 Woodbridge Ave.

Farmers came with produce (eggs, poultry, butter, ham or a side of pork) to exchange for items which could not be produced at home. The General Store sold groceries, dry goods, clothing, crockery, hardware, drugs, whiskey, and even marriage licenses.
