Get ready for a new winter event, Newmarket.

From the evening of Feb. 22 to the afternoon of Feb. 25, Ice Lounge on Main will transform Newmarket’s Main Street into an outdoor winter lounge, featuring live performances, captivating public art and lighting, an unforgettable food and beverage experience and more for the community to enjoy, the town said in a statement.

“It’s no secret that Newmarket has some of the best events in the GTA and I’m so excited to add Ice Lounge on Main to our incredible roster of events,” Mayor John Taylor said.

“Ice Lounge on Main is more than an event -- it’s an extraordinary experience to bring the community together, while supporting our local businesses during the winter months, which is typically a slower time for many businesses.”

The festival is presented by Mercedes-Benz Newmarket.

“At Mercedes-Benz Newmarket, we’re proud to be a part of the Newmarket community and help bring incredible experiences to life,” said Brian Fulton, managing partner.

“Our continued partnership with the Town of Newmarket allows us to give back to the community in a fun and creative way and I’m looking forward to seeing the community at Ice Lounge on Main.”

Main Street, already a popular community gathering space that attracts more than 250,000 visitors each year, will become a pedestrian zone from Water Street to Park Avenue for residents and visitors to enjoy a number of experiences.

Here’s what you can expect:

The town is working closely with the Main Street District BIA, and with its support Ice Lounge on Main is sure to be the highlight of the winter season, showcasing local talent and businesses, the town statement said.
