Full of games, rides and musical performers, Vaughan Celebrates Winterfest is an activity-filled pre-Super Bowl outing for families this Sunday (Feb. 11).

A tradition since 1989, the festival around Vellore Village Community Centre lasts until 3 p.m. and has food trucks and fire pits, horse-drawn wagons, magic and fire shows, Asian drumming and activities from horse-drawn wagons to interactive LEGO building.

There’s much to see and do this year, said Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca in a release. “This fun event has become an annual tradition for many, bringing together friends, family and neighbours to celebrate the winter season.”

There’s also free recreational swimming at the community centre from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

One thing Winterfest doesn’t have is on-site parking.

Shuttle buses, however, will run until 3:30 p.m. from Vaughan City Hall at 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. and Emily Carr Secondary School at 4901 Rutherford Rd.

Organizers say accessible parking is available at St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School, 2 Davos Rd.
