When Bolton Coun. Tony Rosa talks to Vaughan politicians next month about the current poor condition of the gateway between the two communities, he will be armed with a petition signed by almost 2,000 residents.

“It’s very important to our community,” Rosa said, during a Jan. 30 Caledon council meeting.

Bolton shares a border with Vaughan to the south and east along Highway 50.

Rosa said the abundant container yards, lack of landscaping and setbacks have created an eyesore.

“We are demanding the implementation of height restrictions, setbacks and proper landscaping and beautification efforts along the Highway 50 corridor,” he said.

Caledon Mayor Annette Groves called the area a “death trap” for commuters.

“There are some huge safety problems,” she said, noting she believes Vaughan would be supportive of change.

Rosa will delegate at Vaughan council on Feb. 13.
