There are some new and continuing closures that have been announced for highways in York region this week that could cause some major traffic problems.
The Ministry of Transportation announced the closures for Highway 400 and Highway 404, impacting drivers in Vaughan, Markham and Richmond Hill, through its 511 Ontario website and is alerting drivers. They include:
- Maintenance on Highway 400 northbound on-ramp at Major MacKenzie Drive in Vaughan will leave "all lanes closed" from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 30-Feb. 1, according to the Ministry;
- Maintenance on Highway 400 southbound between Teston Road and Rutherford Road will leave the right lane closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 29-Feb. 2;
- Maintenance on Highway 400 southbound at Major MacKenzie Drive will leave a lane closed from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 31-Feb. 1;
- Construction on Highway 404 northbound between 16th Avenue and Major MacKenzie Drive in Markham-Richmond Hill will leave two left lanes closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 29-Feb. 2;
- Maintenance on Highway 404 southbound between 19th Avenue in Richmond Hill and Major MacKenzie Drive in Markham will leave a lane closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Jan. 29-Feb. 2.
