Metrolinx hosts Jan. 25 open house on Yonge North Subway Extension in Richmond Hill

Details of the Yonge North Subway extension will be available at an open house on the project in Richmond Hill’s Langstaff Community Centre this Thursday (Jan. 25).

Metrolinx, the province’s transit agency, said it wants to share updated information about the extension and its next planned steps.

Early work got underway last year at Finch Station -- southern terminus of the eight-kilometre route connecting North York to Richmond Hill -- and the project is expected to award a tunnelling contract in 2024.

Though Metrolinx staged virtual information sessions and had a pop-up event at Thornhill Community Centre in 2023, the agency said on social media this is its first in-person open house on the subway project.

The open house will be in the community centre’s Yorkshire Room at 155 Red Maple Dr. from 6 to 8 p.m.
