Mother Nature’s anticipated blast of winter Jan. 12 means Newmarket Mayor John’s Taylor New Year’s levee isn’t going ahead this evening.
The party was supposed to run the night of Jan. 12 but Environment Canada is calling for up to 25 cm of snow, gusting winds with near zero visibility at times.
The event has been postponed to Feb 2.
“We've been monitoring the weather forecast hoping that we could host this great event this evening, however given the potential for dangerous and unpleasant conditions, we're postponing the levee out of an abundance of caution,” Taylor said.
“Please stay safe, avoid unnecessary travel, and I look forward to celebrating the new year with everyone on Feb 2”.
The event is Feb. 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons at 22 Doug Duncan Dr.
