Newmarket trustee elected York Region District School Board vice-chair

Markham Trustee Ron Lynn returns the position of chair and Newmarket Trustee Pamela McCarthy has been elected vice-chair at York Region District School Board for 2024.

The Wards 2 and 6 Markham trustee was re-elected by acclamation at the inaugural meeting of York Region District School Board Monday, Dec. 4.

Other results include:

• Finance and property standing committee chair --- Markham Wards 5 and 7 Michael Chen
• Learning, equity and well-being standing committee chair --- Georgina and East Gwillimbury Carolyn Butterworth
• Policy and bylaw standing committee chair --- Indigenous Trustee Lauri Hoeg
• Ontario Public School Boards’ Association board of directors --- King and Vaughan Ward 1 Nadeem Mahmood, Vaughan Wards 2 and 3 Dr. Elizabeth Sinclair
