Woodbridge Avenue is back and reopen for business.

Recently, Woodbridge Avenue had been under construction to accommodate high-density development with residential and mixed-use buildings. The City of Vaughan received “more than $2 million” from the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario (FEDEV) to help city building projects, and Woodbridge Avenue reconstruction was one of them.

The improvements include a renewed streetscape and improving infrastructure between Islington Avenue and Kipling Avenue.

“The extensive streetscaping and infrastructure work the City of Vaughan undertook will set businesses up for success, ensure residents enjoy an increased quality of life with access to trails and transit, and encourage visitors to explore the Woodbridge Village,” said Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca.

It’s welcome news, as pylons formerly littered the streets as construction was underway.

“I want to thank Ward 2 for their continued patience as the City of Vaughan completed necessary improvements to the area. Now, the community can rest assured knowing that the heart of Woodbridge Village can be enjoyed today, tomorrow and well into the future,” said Ward 2 Councillor Adriano Volpentesta.

Extensive infrastructure work completed includes road rehabilitation, water main replacements, sanitary sewer upgrades, street lighting improvements, traffic signal additions, bridge improvements, parking lay-bys (designated paved parking areas) and streetscape and landscape enhancements.

“There’s now a gathering place for community events and celebrations. Visitors can come from near and far knowing parking has been increased,” added Volpentesta.
