The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 375 and the City of Richmond Hill will host a parade and ceremony on Nov. 11 to honour the women and men who served and continue to serve Canada.

The parade will form at 10 a.m. at the northwest corner of Yonge and Wright streets and proceed south on Yonge Street starting at 10:30 a.m., ending at the Richmond Hill Cenotaph. A Remembrance service will then follow at 10:45 a.m.

“As we gather in our homes or at memorial services, let us use this time to recall the stories of courage and honour those who carried the torch of freedom and peace,” said Mayor David West. “And let us use this day to ensure the sacrifices that were made before us were not in vain, and foster a world where conflict can be resolved through dialogue and understanding.

“On this Remembrance Day, I ask all residents to stand united, not just to honour the past, but also toward building a better future.”

Flags will be lowered to half-mast at all Richmond Hill facilities for Remembrance Day.

The cenotaph is located at the McConaghy Seniors' Centre, 10100 Yonge St, Richmond Hill.
