Whitchurch-Stouffville’s Toys for Tickets holiday program has returned. Residents can donate toys and gifts in lieu of paying a parking ticket.

As part of the program, parking tickets issued by the town between Dec. 1 and 15, can be paid by donation. Gifts must be in their original packaging and the value of the donation (before taxes) must match or exceed the amount owed on the parking infraction notice. Proof of purchase and the infraction notice must be presented at the time of donation.

“This program has been a staple in our town for 20 years now and provides a unique way to make the holidays a little brighter for families in our community,” Mayor Iain Lovatt said. “In our community, generosity is a way of life, making Stouffville a truly special place to live and work.”

Donation suggestions: new unwrapped children’s toys; non-perishable food items such as canned fruit, vegetables, soups, stews; clothing for infants and children and gift certificates for teenagers.

Donations can be made at the municipal offices located on 111 Sandiford Dr., Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Donations are accepted between Dec. 1 and 18. Donations will be distributed through the Stouffville Lions Club and the Stouffville Food Bank.
