Toronto Fire crews are bringing in heavy equipment to search for a body unaccounted for following a house explosion in the city’s east end on Sunday.
The blast happened at 11:37 a.m. on Kitchener Rd., in the Kingston and Galloway Rds. area.
There are reports that one occupant was in the home at the time of the fire and remains unaccounted for, Fire Chief Matthew Pegg said Sunday.
Fire officials said the house will become accessible later in the day Monday and there will be a search for a body.
Officials say they presume there is a body in the debris and that the process of removal will be part of the excavation process.
Pegg said once crews have fully secured the scene, they will search the debris.
Officials could not confirm what caused the explosion and said that will be part of the investigation.
