The Study

The City of Vaughan has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for future improvements to Teston Road, between Pine Valley Drive and Kleinburg Summit Way. This study assessed the transportation needs for those who live in the area and travel through it, including safety and operational improvements for all modes of transportation, like walking, biking and driving.

The study was carried out in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Recommendations from this study include:

Operational safety improvements for all users, including at intersection locations.
In-boulevard cycle tracks and sidewalks, on one or both sides of the road.

The Process

A Project File Report (PFR) has been prepared to document the planning, public consultation and decision-making process undertaken for this study. By this Notice, the PFR is now available for public review and comment for a 30-day period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process. Feedback can be submitted directly to the project team via email at christopher.tam@vaughan.ca by Monday, Nov. 13.

Subject to comments received from the community and Vaughan Council, the intent is to proceed with the detailed design and construction of the preferred alternative solution as documented in the report.

An online copy of the PFR can be viewed at vaughan.ca/TestonRoad.

In addition, a request may be made to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for an order requiring a higher level of study (i.e. requiring an individual/comprehensive environmental assessment approval before being able to proceed), or that conditions be imposed (e.g. require further studies), only on the grounds that the requested order may prevent, mitigate or remedy adverse impacts on constitutionally protected Aboriginal considered. Requests should include the requester contact information and full name for the ministry. Requests should specify what kind of order is being requested (request for additional conditions or a request for an individual/comprehensive environmental assessment), how an order may prevent, mitigate or remedy those potential adverse impacts, and any information in support of the statements in the request. This will ensure that the ministry is able to efficiently begin reviewing the request.
