The City of Brampton now has an online platform to make it easier to pay or dispute parking tickets and other bylaw penalties.

The administrative penalty system (APS) is launching on Monday, Oct. 16.

“APS is a fast and flexible system for payment, review and collection of parking and other bylaw penalties,” the city said in a news release.

“It is designed to streamline the enforcement process and increase compliance with the City of Brampton’s bylaws in a manner that is fair, effective and efficient.”

Individuals who receive a penalty notice can pay the penalty or request a review by a screening and hearing review officer.

The platform will transfer bylaw disputes from the courtroom to the municipality using screening officers who can affirm, reduce or cancel penalties.

Screening reviews can be completed online.

The city says individuals have up to 15 days after the decision to request a hearing review meeting, which will be conducted through an online virtual platform.

The hearing officer's decision following the review meeting is final.
