An update on the Multi-Use Recreation Complex, a noise bylaw exemption and an action plan for Lake Drive shoreline jurisdiction were all topics discussed by Georgina council members at the Sept. 20 meeting. Here are three things you need to know:

1. An update on the status of the construction of the MURC included the completed installation of basketball nets, scoreboards, gym divider, pool lighting and gym lighting. The majority of outside walkways north of the building are finished and several interior wall finishes are complete.

2. Council approved a noise bylaw exemption for Inland Iron and Metal so it is allowed to operate on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to load up four trailers.

3. Council approved a staff recommendation that would require beach associations to be registered as incorporated not-for-profit organizations that function as legal entities before the town engages in any potential long-term lease or sale agreements. Staff will report back to council regarding land management options and a cost structure breakdown for beach associations.
