Significant closures in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham on hwys. 400, 404 Sept. 18-24 trigger traffic warnings to drivers

Various maintenance and construction projects the cause of the closures

Drivers are being alerted to lane closures on Highways 400 and 404 in Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham that could cause delays.

Recurring construction on Highway 400 northbound between Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan and King Road in King that began on Sept. 27 will continue to close two right lanes until Sept. 24.

From Monday to Thursday, the first lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. and the second lane will be close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On Friday, the first lane will be closed from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. and the second lane from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Saturday, the first lane will be closed 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. and the second lane will close from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m.

More construction on Highway 400 southbound between Major Mackenzie Drive and Rutherford Road in Vaughan will close one left lane from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24. Each day, the lane in question will close at 11 p.m. and re-open at 6 a.m.

Maintenance work on Highway 400 northbound between Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan will close one left lane from Sept. 18 at 11 p.m. to Sept. 21 at 6 a.m.

Another construction project on the Highway 400 southbound Express between Langstaff Road and Highway 7 in Vaughan that started on Sept. 17 will continue to close down all lanes until Sept. 30. From Monday to Friday, all lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and on Saturday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

More recurring construction on Highway 404 northbound between Highway 7 and Beaver Creek in Markham-Richmond Hill that began Sept. 17 will continue to close one right lane until Sept. 22 at 5 a.m.

Additional construction on the Highway 404 northbound on-ramp at Major Mackenzie Drive in Markham-Richmond Hill will leave “all lanes closed,” according to the Ministry of Transportation, from Sept. 20 to 23. Each night, the lane in question will close from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.

A construction project on the Highway 404 southbound on-ramp at Highway 7 in Markham-Richmond Hill will close all lanes from Sept. 20 at 11:59 p.m. to Sept. 23 at 5 a.m.
