If you want to have a say in how Georgina spends its money in 2024, now is your chance.

Town staff develops a budget every year to determine how funds are used, before council discusses the items and subsequently passes it.

Tax dollars go toward a variety of programs and services, which residents rely on and use every day, from road work to water and wastewater improvements to snow clearing and recreation programs.

The town is inviting residents to get involved in the 2024 budget process and provide feedback.

Residents can visit www.georgina.ca/budget to take an online survey beginning Sept. 5, and their names will be entered to win a $100 Visa gift card. The contest is open to Georgina residents and business owners who are 18 or older. Town staff are not eligible to participate.

Hard copies of the budget survey will be available at the Civic Centre (26557 Civic Centre Rd.), Georgina Public Library branches (90 Wexford Dr., Keswick; 5279 Black River Rd., Sutton; 76 Pete’s Lane, Pefferlaw) and the Link (20849 Dalton Rd., Sutton) from Sept. 5 to 19. The survey will also be available at the Farmers’ Market on Sept. 10.

A public information session will be held on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Georgina Farmers’ Market. A second public information session will be held on Sept. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the council chambers at the Civic Centre.

Residents can also provide feedback via email to budget@georgina.ca.

The deadline for the survey is Sept. 19, and the results will be included as part of the draft budget presented to council on Oct. 25.

Council budget deliberations take place on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6. For more information and to stay up to date on the budget, go to www.georgina.ca/budget.
