Talent City Vaughan is helping residents get their foot in the door.
The professional skills development program aims to strengthen the city’s workforce by encouraging organizations and employers to invest in local talent.
The program offers financial support -- micro-grants of up to $10,000 -- to external organizations that provide opportunities for residents or employees of Vaughan-based businesses to enhance their skill sets.
Registration is now open for the following fall 2023 workshops and programs.
An eight-week training program aimed at propelling individuals into careers in the skilled trades sector.
Training to enhance the language skills of employees at Vaughan-based businesses or residents.
Training to operate a freelance interpreter small business, including how to conduct professional interpretation for the health, legal, corporate and community sectors.
Professional development skills training in warehouse management, forklift operation, customer and client service, and Microsoft Excel.
Training to develop and employ youth as coaches for outdoor soccer.
Training for health-care providers, including personal support workers and dietary workers, on how to manage and care for individuals with dementia.
Training workshops for various film industry topics, including location sound mixing, micro-budget filmmaking and film producing.
Training opportunities for pet businesses, including veterinary clinics, pet groomers, dog walkers, dog trainers and doggy daycares, to assist a dog in an emergency.
Training and development for trades careers, including career and skills assessment, and a career discovery day. Access potential opportunities for a paid internship and future employment.
