Canadian entrepreneur and Vaughan local Dale Bolton, at 70 years old, is embarking on a journey for charity.
Bolton -- the founder of Bolton’s Naturals, a leading health and wellness brand in Canada -- claims that it’s donating 100 per cent of its profits to help end world poverty and aims to combat global malnutrition.
Bolton will hike for over 15 weeks, devoting two days per week to cover 30 kilometres each day. His journey began back on May 26, near Niagara Falls, and will conclude in Owen Sound by Sept. 3, weather permitting.
“This adventure takes me back to my roots as a kid when I enjoyed hiking in the bush and spending time alone,” said Bolton in a press release.
The challenge serves to celebrate the 15-year-anniversary of Thrive for Good, a non-profit established by Dale and his wife Linda, founder and CEO of Natural Calm Canada and cofounder of Bolton’s Naturals.
Thrive for Good was founded back in 2008 following a trip to Malawi. When the couple saw the conditions children in an orphanage that they supported faced, they realized the need for more sustainable solutions. So they began looking at growing nutritious food as a solution to ending hunger and malnutrition.
Dale Bolton acquired organic farming skills in Kenya and built the foundation for Thrive for Good there as he established a training centre in the city of Kitale. Since then, Thrive for Good has made strides in transforming communities across 17 countries, impacting over 130,000 individuals, according to a news release.
