Ten local students had the opportunity to set up and run their own businesses this summer, thanks to a grant program offered through the Richmond Hill Small Business Enterprise Centre.

The Summer Company grant program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade and provides successful applicants with business education, two months of mentorship and up to $3,000 in funding.

Eligible applicants are Canadian citizens who are 15-29 years old, enrolled in an Ontario high school, college or university and are able to commit to an average of 35 hours a week to run their business.

The 2023 Summer Company Students had the opportunity to talk about their businesses and interact with potential clients in July at Ribfest and the Summer Company Business Showcase at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill.

Information about the 2024 Summer Company program will be available early in the new year at RichmondHill.ca/SummerCompany.
