The City of Vaughan has released its Infrastructure Development 2022 delivery report, which shows that the city doubled its infrastructure spending between 2021 and 2022 for a total of $166 million worth of projects reaching completion, largely driven by increased investments in road maintenance and transit.
The breakdown of the report shows that $38.8 million was put toward 104 road and bridge projects, which include the Canada Drive-America Avenue Bridge, an extension to Kirby Road, and improvements to Woodbridge Avenue. An additional $41.7 million was spent on transportation and mobility projects.
This increased spending is in alignment with Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca’s mandates to both alleviate traffic gridlock and advance capital programs and projects. He believes these commitments will maintain the city’s current focus on increased infrastructure investments moving forward.
“The City of Vaughan’s Infrastructure Development team is essential to driving forward-looking, prudent and strategic investments in Vaughan’s current and future infrastructure projects,” said Del Duca.
A number of long-range infrastructure planning studies are currently in place under the infrastructure development portfolio to support this continued growth, including the Bass Pro Mills Drive Extension Environmental Assessment, the Teston Road Environmental Assessment, and the 2023 Vaughan Transportation Plan.
