Chinese senior citizens gather round at Pheasant Hollow Park in Maple to practice Tai Chi.

A group of older Chinese residents brought tai chi to Pheasant Hollow Park in Vaughan.

Community residents near the park gathered to observe the traditional dragon boat festival held in China on June 22 and practise the ancient art.

The organizers of the event retired and immigrated to Canada 10 years ago and found a sense of community in the park. Since 2013, they have been meeting regularly in the morning every weekday to practise tai chi and square dancing.

Most of the organizers of the event are people over 70 years old. But they haven’t stopped, whether it’s a hot summer or a cold winter.

Although these seniors are far away from their homeland, they happily spent an unforgettable and traditional Chinese festival in a beautiful park in Canada.
