A portion of Teston Road in Vaughan will be closed starting next week until the end of the year, as the next phase of construction starts in the area.

The closure is between Pine Valley Drive and Weston Road, and is scheduled to shut down starting on July 3. During construction, only local traffic will be allowed through.

Construction has been taking place on and near the road since November, where land has been cleared and prepared for this phase. Teston will be widened from two to four lanes, and realigned in several spots, including at the Pine Valley intersection.

A new 45-metre span bridge across Purpleville Creek, which is just east of Pine Valley, will be built, and the road itself will be raised five metres. There will also be a new trail underneath the bridge going along the creek.

Teston is expected to be open by the end of December, but the City of Vaughan does warn that there is room for delays, especially if the weather does not cooperate during the fall and winter.

Once the road reopens there will still be lane restrictions along Teston east of Pine Valley, with all work expected to be completed by the fall of 2024.
