“City staff were onsite (Tuesday) evening to secure and monitor the area and were onsite again today, examining the site of the damaged tree as well as surrounding trees,” said a City of Toronto spokesperson on Wednesday.

“Staff have removed the tree for further analysis and removed all debris from the area. The path has now reopened for the public. The City sends sincere and heartfelt well wishes to (the woman) for a speedy recovery.”

The spokesperson added the city wants the public “to report hazardous trees and branches to 311 to help City staff (Urban Forestry) investigate and remove hazards.”

She contininued: “The City is responsible for maintaining more than five million trees growing along City streets and within the City’s parks, ravines and natural areas. Maintaining City trees in a safe and healthy condition is its primary focus and is critical for establishing a mature, sustainable urban forest.”
