The riding of Markham-Stouffville will have a new MP after the next federal election. Current Markham-Stouffville MP and Minister of Public Services Helena Jaczek announced that this will be her final term. She made the announcement ahead of an expected cabinet shuffle.

Jaczek served the riding both federally and provincially over the last 20 years, winning four of five elections.

Before serving political Jaczek was the medical officer of health for York Region.

“I will continue to represent and serve the people of Markham-Stouffville until the next election and look forward to being able to dedicate more time here on the ground as an active member of our vibrant community,” Jaczek said. “It has been an immense honour and a privilege to represent our community at both the provincial and federal levels as well as serving in Cabinet at both levels.”

Jaczek was first elected federally in 2019. She served provincially from 2007 to 2018.
