In the midst of the dogs days of summer, you may want to use more convenient ways to get around.

Micromobility devices such as e-scooters, mopeds, Segways and electric skateboards and hoverboards may be an option.

So the City of Vaughan is reminding everyone of the rules to make sure everyone has a happy and safe summer.

The City of Vaughan states that no micromobility device that is motorized is to use a sidewalk, cycle tracks or shared pedestrian and bike paths or recreational trails in the city.

Micromobility devices are also not permitted on any sports field or courts, such as basketball or tennis courts.

Those who require motorized wheelchairs and medical e-devices to get around are exempt.

While e-bikes are usable on most roads and highways where traditional bikes are permitted, e-bikes are not allowed on certain provincially control accessed highways, such as 400-series highways, pathways and trails.

The City of Vaughan is asking to report any unsafe usage of e-bikes and micromobility devices to Service Vaughan at (905) 832-2281 or service@vaughan.ca and provide the date, location and nature of the incident. Bylaw officers will respond as required. Concerns can also be reported to the York Regional Police through the non-emergency phone line at 1-866-876-5423 or by completing the online form at yrp.ca.
