City of Vaughan will be conducting a traffic study on Lawford Road.

The study is being done after rising concerns about speeding, road safety and traffic volume.

The area of study in question is north of Major Mackenzie Drive, west of Weston Road, south of Teston Road and east of Pine Valley Drive.

News of the study comes just a day before a chain reaction collision in Vaughan on Pine Valley Drive that left a 72-year-old woman dead, north of Major Mackenzie Drive.

This review is part of a larger plan for city staff to plan out both short-term and long-term recommendations for areas of improvement to be presented before council in late 2023.

Nearby are two elementary schools -- Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School and Tommy Douglas Secondary School.

The city is asking community members to engage by attending a virtual information session on Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. or completing an online survey that will be open until Wednesday, June 21. Community members can also drop a pin on a map to indicate high-traffic areas.
