The City of Vaughan doubled its spending on infrastructure projects in 2022.

According to the Infrastructure Development 2022 delivery report, Vaughan doubled the value of work completed in 2021.

“2022 was a year distinguished by achievements and milestones -- $166 million worth of infrastructure improvements was completed, which more than doubles the value of work accomplished in 2021,” said Vince Musacchio, deputy city manager, infrastructure and development.

With Mayor Steven Del Duca’s mandate to fix traffic gridlock, we can expect more investments into road maintenance and transit.

The message from the mayor included in the report reads, “I want to thank the City’s Infrastructure Development team for their diligent work in building upon and improving Vaughan’s transportation network” and cites the VMC and transportation as city building initiatives toward “global city building.”

“The 2022 Delivery Report showcases the numerous capital programs and projects that advanced throughout the year to effectively manage and maintain roads, facilities, parks and more,” said Musacchio.

$41.7 million was spent on transportation and mobility projects. While an investment of $38.8 million was spent across 104 projects on Vaughan’s Road and bridge network with projects like the Canada Drive-America Avenue Bridge, the Kirby Road extension and Woodbridge Avenue improvements and more.

In the message from the deputy city manager, infrastructure and development, Mussachio wrote:

“The achievements and significant increase in the volume of work completed in 2022 advanced delivery in all strategic priority areas, with a focus on Transportation and Mobility, where $38 million of infrastructure work was completed.”
