The interior of the new Major Mackenzie West Bus Terminal is open and ready for use.

“On behalf of the City of Vaughan and the residents and businesses who call this community home, I want to thank York Region Council for this investment in our city. Vaughan council has recently endorsed my nine point action plan to fight traffic gridlock. It includes strong support for an enhanced transit network, and this new terminal is another example of how we can work together to make it easier for people to get where they need to go,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca.

The facility is a result of an $18.6 million investment from York Region and the federal government’s Canada Community Building Fund.

Del Duca was joined by York Region chair Wayne Emmerson and city councillors Marilyn Iafrate, Adriano Volpentesta and regional councillor Mario Ferri for the unveiling of the new facility.

“All three levels of government have invested in the health of our residents and communities. When its doors opened in 2021, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital doubled access to care for the communities of Vaughan, King, and Richmond Hill. And today, with this opening of this new bus terminal, we are providing another transportation option to access vital health care services in the community,” Del Duca said in a statement.

The new bus terminal is across the new hospital and is just adjacent to notable amusement park Canada’s Wonderland.
