Markham celebrates Pride Month with book showcase, drag performance

Markham Public Library invites readers (18+) to celebrate Pride by joining a lively discussion about 10 of its top recommendations for books that feature LGTBQ+ characters and themes, hosted by drag queen superstar Gila Münster.

The specially selected titles cover the spectrum of gender identities and orientations, including intersectional identities.

Münster will also delight audiences with musical performances to add sparkle and glamour to the event.

The event will be held online June 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Register at Markham Public Library.

On June 14, the City of Markham raised the progress Pride flag in celebration of Pride Month.

“We’re proud to celebrate our diverse community, and are committed to ensuring everyone feels welcome, included, and has a sense of belonging,” the city said.
