One man is accounted for, but his pets are missing following a large fire at a Vaughan home.
The incident took place June 19. In the lead up to 8:25 a.m., York Regional Police and Vaughan Fire and Rescue were called to the scene on Cattail Drive, near Rutherford Road and Hwy. 400.
The lone human occupant escaped the blaze safely, but media reports also stated several pets inside the home remain missing.
Area residents were evacuated and the street was closed off, although both those orders have since been cancelled, according to police.
Firefighters struggled from heat exhaustion due to the temperatures while fighting the fire that was active on both the main and second floors of the house, but the fire has since been put out.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown and the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called.
