Culture and recreation-based initiatives serving Aurora just got a big boost from the town.

The town has launched the Community Partnership Grant Program, which is designed to provide temporary funding to help with the implementation of culture or recreation-based initiatives, build organizational capacity, benefit the community and support the town’s strategic plan.

Groups or individuals who apply must be culture, recreation and/or community organizations that primarily serve the Aurora community; individuals who are residents of Aurora; and individuals, culture or recreation professionals, culture or recreation organizations, regardless of not-for-profit or charitable status.

"This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting and empowering community, culture, and recreation groups, as well as individuals working toward creating positive change and impact in their communities,” said Robin McDougall, director of community services.

The grant program will offer up to $10,000 to eligible organizations and individuals through four submission deadlines each year.

The first round of applications for 2023 will be due on June 15 and can be submitted through the town’s website at www.aurora.ca/communitygrants. A panel of town staff will evaluate the submissions based on their innovation, feasibility, impact and alignment with the town’s strategic plan and inclusion charter.
