It’s time to get loud and proud, Newmarket.

For the first time, the annual Pride Festival and Parade is now a two-day event, on June 16 and 17.

The fun begins with the Sparkling Night opening ceremonies and rainbow lighting downtown from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

June 17 will be jam-packed from noon to midnight with entertainment, a beer garden, pop-up shops, Main Street businesses Pride displays, interactive games and more.

The most anticipated event of the festival, the Pride Parade, celebrating its 10th anniversary, will take over Main Street beginning at 3 p.m.

About 15,000 people are expected to attend the parade, which organizers say will feature “a dazzling display of 2SLGBTQ+ brilliance” with more than 50 floats and groups and 2,500 people marching.

“Watch this year’s theme, ‘Sharing our Stories,’ come to life from new viewing areas on the street or our premium viewing spaces with our partners -- as bigger floats, live music and bubbles elevate the spectacle that is the parade, along the entire revamped route from Ontario to Water streets,” York Pride boasts.
