Nominations for the Order of Vaughan are now open.
The Order of Vaughan award was created by the city as a way to pay tribute to individuals who made a meaningful impact on Vaughan civic life.
This year, up to 10 nominees may be eligible to receive the award. Since its creation in 2015, 58 individuals have been allotted the Order of Vaughan.
The 2023 nomination period will be open until Friday, Sept. 1, and once closed the Order of Vaughan selection committee will review nominations and recommend successful candidates to council for approval.
The award recognizes leaders within the following categories: arts and entertainment, media and communications, athletics, health and wellness, business, philanthropy, public service, education, science and technology, not-for-profit, equity and diversity, accessibility, and environment and spirituality.
To be eligible, a nominee must be a living person at the time of the nomination and have dedicated their time, talent and resources for the betterment of the city. An individual does not have to reside in Vaughan to be eligible. Nominations will not be accepted for staff currently employed by the City of Vaughan or current elected public officials.
