York Region is inviting you to learn about the services at its public operations centre May 27.
The region is hosting a family fun day, lining up with National Public Works Week and Paramedic Services Week. It will be offering displays, activities, facility and fleet tours and a charity barbecue.
“York Region proudly provides vital services that connect nine towns and cities and 1.2 million residents,” the region said on its website for the event. “We strive to be a leading utility of the world, a gold standard of performance and innovation.”
The event will take place at the public works operations centre at 90 Bales Dr. E. in East Gwillimbury, and at the paramedics building next door.
Highlights will include interactive displays, public works trucks and equipment, mascots and a paint-a-plow blade showcase with designs from area schools.
Both National Public Works Week and Paramedic Services Week run from May 21 to 27, recognizing the two fields. The theme for National Public Works Week is Connecting the World through Public Works, while the theme for Paramedic Services Week is Diversity in Paramedicine.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can find more information at york.ca.
