Mayor Steven Del Duca presented Waves of Change for Autism a surprise $20,000 donation at the fourth annual Sip and Savour event from the Spirit of Generosity fund.

The event held on May 4 at the Copper Creek Golf Club, had more than 350 people in attendance to support the cause.

“Waves of Changes for Autism is an outstanding organization that is making a meaningful difference in Vaughan. This volunteer-run charity is changing lives by funding treatment families may not otherwise be able to afford,” said Mayor Steven Del Duca in a press release.

Since 2016, the charity Waves of Change for Autism has raised nearly $1.4 million and funded 317 unique applications that help offset the cost of specialized autism treat.

“By working together, we’ve had a remarkable year. In 2022, Waves of Changes for Autism received the best Non-Profit Charity Award at the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards and was bestowed with Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee pin in recognition of outstanding charitable work,” said Ellen Contardi, president of Waves of Change for Autism.

“I genuinely believe that by working together, we will continue to advance a noble cause: raising awareness about what autism is and how it affects families,“ she said.
