Garage fire on Hwy. 48 in Georgina causes $50K in damages

There were no injuries, but an early-morning garage fire on Hwy. 48 in Georgina caused about $50,000 in damages.

Georgina Fire and Rescue Services responded to a call at 24355 Hwy. 48 in the Baldwin area in the early hours of May 10.

Crews from all three Georgina fire stations arrived shortly after 1 a.m. where a large two-car garage and farm outbuilding were fully engulfed by flames.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the two buildings, protecting the home.

No injuries were reported and the assessed damages amount to about $50,000, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be electrical.

Hwy. 48 remained closed for a couples hours.
